Board Of Governors
of The Federal Reserve System
The Federal Reserve System is the central bank of the united states.
It was founded by Congress in1913 to provide the nation with a safer,
more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system. Today,
the Federal Reserve's duties fall into four general areas:
(1) conducting the nation's monetary policy by influencing the money
and credit conditions in the economy in pursuit of full employment and
stable prices;
(2) supervising and regulating banking institutions to ensure the safety
and soundness of the nation's banking and financial system and to protect
the credit rights of consumers (Federal Reserve regulations);
(3) maintaining the stability of the financial system and containing
systemic risk that may arise in financial markets; and
(4) providing certain financial services to the United States government,
to the public, to financial institutions, and to foreign official institutions,
including playing a major role in operating the nation's payments system.

Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation (FDIC)
Provides information of interest to the banking industry, statistical
information about banks and banking, laws and regulations applicable
to financial institutions. Also provides information relating to savings

Federal Financial Institutions
Examination Council (FFIEC)
A formal interagency body empowered to prescribe uniform principles,
standards, and report forms for the federal examination of financial
institutions by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System,
the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union
Administration, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the
Office of Thrift Supervision, and to make recommendations to promote

National Credit Union
Administration (NCUA)
An independent federal agency that supervises federal credit union and
insures all credit unions. Provides a variety of information about credit

Information Center of Banking Information
The National Information Center (NIC) provides comprehensive information
on banks and other institutions for which the Federal Reserve has a
supervisory, regulatory, or research interest including both domestic
and foreign banking organizations operating in the United States. The
NIC includes the organizational structure of financial institutions
and financial information for some of those institutions. Historical
information is available on the structure of all the institutions.

Office Of The Comptroller
Of The Currency (OCC)
An independent bureau of the treasury department that regulates
national banks. This site provides varied information about the

Office Of Thrift
Supervision (OTS)
The primary regulator of all federal thrift institutions. Also supervises,
in conjunction with the Division of Banking in Florida, the state-chartered
thrift institutions. This site provides access to information on the
