You are not allowed to use the word "Federal," "National," or "United States" as part of your name pursuant to Chapter 494.00165(1)(d). If you are already incorporated using one of these names, to become licensed you must do the following:
Foreign (Non-Florida) Corporation - register an "alternate" name for use in this state with the Florida Secretary of State's office and use that name only in this state. You may phone the Secretary of State at

Florida Corporation - you must change your corporate name or form a new corporation that does not use the prohibited words.

"Whoever, except as permitted by the laws of the United States, uses the words "National," Federal," "United States," "Reserve," or "Deposit Insurance" as part of the business or firm name of a person, corporation, partnership, business trust, association or other business entity engaged in the banking, loan, building and loan, brokerage, factorage, insurance, indemnity, savings or trust business;" "Shall be punished as follows: a corporation, partnership, business trust, association, or other business entity, by a fine under this title; an officer or member thereof participating or knowingly acquiescing in such violation or any individual member violating this section, by a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more than one year, or both." Chapter 655.922(2) states: (2) No person other than a financial institution shall, in this state; (a) Transact business under any name or title that contains the works "bank," "banker," "banking," "trust company," "savings and loan association," "savings bank," or "credit union," or words of similar import, in any context or in any manner.
