New Exam Requirements for Investment Advisers

  • Do I need to take any exams if I am currently registered in another state that does not require the S65 exam and I want to move to Florida and become registered as an IA?
    No. There is grandfathering provision for IA’s registered in other states so that they do not have to pass an exam if they have been registered in any jurisdiction in the past 2 years.

  • What designations are accepted professional designations that an applicant may possess in lieu of passing the new S65? 

    PFS Personal Financial Specialist
    ChFC  Chartered Financial Consultant
    CFP Certified Financial Planner
    CIC Chartered Investment Counselor
    CFA Chartered Financial Analyst

  • What exams will I need to pass if I do not meet any of the other qualifications or have any of the other designations?  Either S65 (within the last 2 years); Or S7 and S66 (within the last 2 years)
